Daniela of Bülow


The Wagner family in Wahnfried (1881). Daniela in the center, standing. Daniela von Bülow, also known as Daniela Thode (Berlin, 12 October 1860 - Bayreuth, July 28, 1940), was the first daughter of conductor Hans von Bülow and Cosima Liszt.

She was seven when her mother left her father for the composer Richard Wagner, who treated her like a daughter. Sister by the mother of Siegfried Wagner and Eva Wagner, her sisters were Blandine von Bülow (1863-1941) and Isolde von Bülow (1865-1919).

He was a pianist and very active in costume design for Bayreuth Festival productions. He published the letters of his father Hans von Bülow.

He married in 1886 with the historian of the Art Henry Thode, of whom it separated in 1914.

He joined the National Socialist Party and died in 1940.
