The Icelandic Literary Prize (isl. Íslensku bókmenntaverðlaunin) is given annually in the three categories "fiction", "subject literature", as well as "literature on children and young people" since 2013.

The prize was donated to the 100th anniversary of the Association of Icelandic Publishers (Félag íslenskra bókaútgefenda) in 1989. Until 2012, he was awarded in the two categories for fiction and subject and literature, since 2013 also in a category for children's and youth literature. At the beginning of December, five books are proposed in the categories, which is a good advertising during the time of the Christmas Flood (Jólabókaflóðið). By a committee appointed by the association, the prices will be awarded in the following January. Edit the source text Weblinks Edit sourcetext
