German (Nowgorod)

German was Bishop of Novgorod from 1078 to 1096. He is venerated in the Russian Orthodox Church as a saint. His memorial day is February 10th. Edit LifeQualtext

German was a monk in Kiev. He was probably bishop of Novgorod in 1078. During his tenure, the first convent was founded in Novgorod in 1092. He died in 1098.

At Kiev there was a monastery, which was named after a German. Possibly he was its founder and before 1078 Igumen.

In 1439, he was declared a regional saint, 1549 as a saint for the entire Russian Orthodox Church. Edit source text
