The Pseudorandom Binary Sequence (PRBS) is a binary signal that approximates the spectrum of white noise and is generated by a deterministic random generator.

The pseudo-random bit stream can (typically) assume the values +1 and -1. It is used as an alternative to white noise. The reproducibility of the signal is advantageous. It is used in communications engineering for code division multiplexing, band spreading, encryption and transmission channel verification, and in control engineering for the analysis of the pulse response using Maximum Length Sequence.

A PRBS can be generated with a linear feedback shift register. Edit source text
