A re-release or reissue is a re-release of a phonogram.

Reasons for re-publication may include an extended version of the original, Eg with additional songs - or a change of the record label, which re-releases the artist's older albums. A re-release with new songs is often published relatively promptly to the original edition in order to stimulate consumption again and to promote a possible chart placement. Furthermore, recording of poor quality is often remade and mixed.

Record labels such as Rhino Records or Legacy Recordings have specialized in the release of repositions.
