Products and chemical anchors

Chemical anchor on the Kiel Canal

A product tanker is a tanker that transports semi-finished and finished products made exclusively from petroleum. Chemical anchors, also called Parceltanker, transport both petrochemical products, as well as food oils, acids, alkalis and other chemicals.

Both are different from the crude oil tank except for their considerably smaller size due to a narrower tank compartment, the possibility to drive and turn various products at the same time, as well as through stainless steel tank walls to prevent. The narrower tank subdivision increases construction costs and slightly reduces the payload, but allows a more flexible response to a fluctuating demand for transport capacities.
