Lázaro Maikel Ruíz




Lázaro Maikel Ruíz Gasso (born October 12, 1984 in Havana) is a Cuban weightlifter.

He reached the tenth place in the class up to 56 kg at the World Championships 2006. In 2008, he won bronze in the class up to 62 kg at the Panamerican championships. In the same year he took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he finished sixth. In 2009 he won gold at the Panamerican Championships and finished seventh at the World Championships. He was again the first at the 2010 Panamerican Championship. However, he was positively tested on boldenone during the doping control and blocked for two years. After his suspension, Ruíz won bronze in the class up to 56 kg at the Panamerican championships 2013 and finished fifth in the world championships 2013.
