Pico River (Spain)

For other uses of this term, see Peak.

The Pico is a river of the watershed of the Duero, in Spain. It is located in the center of the province of Burgos (Castile and Leon). It travels 14 km from its source, in the Atapuerca mountain range, to its mouth in the Arlanzon river, in Fuentes Blancas, downstream of the wetland, in the city of Burgos. It should be noted that the course of the final stretch of the river was modified at the end of the 1970s - beginning of the 1980s, when the industrial estate of Gamonal was urbanized and / or completed. This new stretch of river mouth was reinvented with a trapezoidal channel, with a totally artificial taste (you can see the completely rectilinear riverbeds that border the current car park Asebutra, at the foot of the N-120). The Pico was always the river that bathed the town of Gamonal and ended in the river Vena, to the height of what today is the Official School of Languages. It belongs to the Duero Hydrographic Confederation.
