Canovista, related to Antonio Cánovas del Castillo, is a name used by historiography to designate the political system of the Restoration, characterized by:

The work of Joaquín Costa Oligarchy and caciquismo as a current form of government of Spain: Urgency and way of changing it (1901), is a critical analysis of the canovismo or canovista system from the own regenerationist position of the early twentieth century, after disaster of 1898 that opened the period called crisis of the Restoration or crisis of the system canovista, already without the presence of Cánovas (died in terrorist attack in 1897).
