Antonia Reininghaus

Antonia Reininghaus (* 1954 in Graz; † October 2006 ibid) was an Austrian actress.

Reininghaus came from the Styrian entrepreneur family of the same name. Although she had left the drama school prematurely, the director Bernhard Wicki gave her her first Kinorolle in The Conquest of the Citadel. Before that, she had already celebrated successes at the Grazer Schauspielhaus, including What happened after Nora had left her husband or supported the companies of Elfriede Jelinek, with whom she was a friend.

Antonia Reininghaus was in the early 1980s with the German actor Jürgen Prochnow, whom she learned in 1978 during shooting. She poisoned the joint, then seven-year-old daughter Johanna in November 1987 and then followed a suicide attempt. She did not have a prison sentence because of a psychiatric report. She lived thereafter retired and died in 2006.
