Studiolo

Studiolo is a space dedicated to studying and working with the arts.
The space type of the Studiolo arose in the Renaissance. Typical for a studiolo are the walls decorated with scholarly portraits and illusionistic inlaws (trompe-l'œil) or allegories. Studiolos are equipped with works of art, study objects and books and serve for active study and contemplative reflection.
Isabella d'Este was the first woman to have a study at the Palazzo Ducale between 1497 and 1523. You probably used the studiolo of her uncle Leonello d'Este in the Villa di Belfiore (near Ferrara) and the Federico da Montefeltro in Urbino as a model. Edit source text
