Year Becker

Anna Magdalena "Anni" Becker (born 9 December 1926 in Kaiserslautern, Germany) was a singer, songwriter, writer and performer of popular and folk songs

Becker was a professional teacher and taught until 1991. She was married to Hans Becker, an English teacher. Their songs came from both the tradition of popular music and the German cabaret. Many of her works are written in the Palatine dialect with which she grew up. Their texts often deal with political and social content.

She received several awards, including the Nuremberg Bard Award and has published eleven books. Topics were the equality of women and the pollution of the environment. She was involved in the AG Song, the working group of the songwriters, in whose co-ordination committee she was elected in 1982.

Becker sang with her son Jockel in the 1970s, who died in a traffic accident in 1985. Weblinks Edit sourcetext Standard data (person): GND: 122265319 (PICA, AKS) | VIAF: 15647783 | Wikipedia People Search
