'Ata is a small, rocky island at the southern tip of the Tonga archipelago. It is also known as Pylstaart Island. It should not be confused with'Atā, which is an uninhabited coral island, low in the chain of small atolls along the Piha pass along the northern part of Tongatapu. Ata is also a traditional leader in Kolovai, one of the oldest settlements in the western tip of Tonga. Map of Tonga with 'Ata.

Ata is located 157 km southwest of the main island of Tonga, Tongatapu, and 163 km southwest of the island of Eua, and has a length of 1.7 km from north to south and a width of 1.6 km. The surface is of 2.3 km ², according to other sources is of 1.5 km ². 'Ata is 355 meters high.
