Paraná Delta warehouse boat

Lancha Warehouse in the town of Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Paraná Delta Warehouse Boat, known as "warehouse boat", "warehouse boat", "boat warehouse" or "motorboat" is a type of vessel used to supply basic necessities in the Delta del Paraná and the city of Tigre, province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. These are usually small boats that transport products to areas difficult or impossible to access by land.

There is a group of boats that perform an important service of supply to the islands of the Delta of the Paraná. These boats use the port and market of fruits of Tigre as a base of maneuvers and supply, receiving there many products from Buenos Aires (30 km from the port) and other nearby cities. At the same time these ships take to the port many native articles produced in the islands of the Delta of Parana such as wood, honey, pecans, oranges, lemons and other citrus, etc.

Because of the age of many of these boats, locals assign some folk or romantic value to them, as with other boats in the Delta of Paraná such as collective boats.

Service provided by boats

It is known by the local population the great importance of the service provided by the warehouse boats, being very necessary to have the distribution service that they perform, since without them it would be impossible to have a stable population away from the centers of population of the main islands of the Paraná delta.
