Moscow bid for the 2012 Olympic Games

Moscow 2012 was one of the five Olympic nominations ranked for the 2012 Olympic Games. The Olympic plans of the Russian capital included the construction of an Olympic city on the Moscow River. Despite Russia's strong support for the project and the experience accumulated in this country, the lack of modern transport infrastructures, which would not have been able to meet the expected traffic at the Olympics, was the main drag on the bid. In the presentation of the candidacy in Singapore the first and only speech given in English by Russian President Vladimir Putin could be seen. Moscow was eliminated in the first round of elections that took place to choose the 2012 Olympic venue on June 6, 2005 in Singapore.
