Marco Pomponio Matón

Marco Pomponio Matón (in Latin, Marcus Pomponius Matho) was a Roman politician and military, brother of the consul of the year 233 a. C., Manio Pomponio Matón.

Consul in turn in 231 a. C. with Gaius Papirio Mason, participated in the war against the Sardis and used dogs, which they brought from Italy, to hunt the inhabitants of Sardinia who had taken refuge in the forests and caves.

For the same reasons that have been mentioned in the case of his brother, it is believed that he is the same as Pomponio Maton that Livy says, as praetor in 217 BC. C., the second year of the war against Hannibal.

Maton died in the year 204 BC. C., at which time it was both augur and decemvir sacrorum.
