Iduna (Association)

Iduna was an association of conservative Catholic writers from Vienna and existed between 1891 and 1904. This union was founded by Johann Fercher von Steinwand, who founded this union as a counterpoint against Naturalism and Jung-Wien.

The "Iduna Magazine for Poetry and Criticism" was founded as a society magazine.

When in 1896 the author Richard Kralik left the Iduna together with some faithful to join the association of Catholic writers and writers of Austria, this was actually the beginning of the end of this alliance. When in 1904 another group left Iduna to join the Viennese Writers' Association, the Iduna was disbanded. Members (selection) Edit source code Weblinks Edit sourcetext
