Andronic V Paleologist

Andronicus V (Greek: Ανδρόνικος Ε 'Παλαιολόγος) (1400 - 1407) was a co-emperor of the Byzantine Empire with his father John VII Palaeologus. Lifetime

Andronicus V Palaeologus is the only known son of Emperor John VII Palaeologus and Irene Gattilusio, daughter of Francesco Gattilusio. At the time of its birth Juan VII was regent of the Byzantine Empire by its uncle Manuel II Paleólogo. At an unknown date, probably after his father settled in Thessalonica, Andronicus V was proclaimed a nominal co-emperor, probably in 1403/1404. He prevailed on his father, probably dying in 1407. It should be noted that the imperial status of both John VII and Andronicus V was purely honorary and that they were not fully co-operative (although John VII had reigned as emperor in 1390 and as regent in Constantinople from 1399 to 1403). < / p>
