Tenderness of the palate veil

The tensor muscle of the outer palate or periestafilino is a muscle located in the posterior wall of the oral cavity. It originates in the spine of the sphenoid, at the base of the medial pterygoid lamina and in the medial wall of the cartilage of the Eustachian tube. From there it is directed downwards to surround the hamulus of the sphenoid and to direct itself in a fan-shaped tendon, which is inserted in the anterior and middle part of the palatine aponeurosis. It puts tension on the palate veil and depresses it slightly. Intervenes in the opening of the trunk. It is innervated by the V pair through the mandibular nerve.
