French origin, as it was created in 1972 by Air France, Le Méridien has been changing investors throughout its history before the brand was bought in November 2005 by Starwood Hotels & amp; Resorts. The group currently has its headquarters in London, offering in its hotels dispersed throughout the world, a European style hotel with a French accent, while integrating with the local culture. The chain currently comprises more than 120 luxury hotels and resorts around the world.

The first hotel opened by Le Méridien in 1972, was the Le Méridien Étoile in Paris.
