Burgfestspiele Leuchtenberg

The Lichtenberg castle festivals are theater festivals, which were organized from 1982 to 2009 by the Stadtbühne Vohenstrauß. Since the season 2010, the events have been running through the Landestheater Oberpfalz GmbH, a subsidiary of the Stadtbühne Vohenstrauß.

The Burgfestspiele is one of the largest theatrical productions in Bavaria, with a total of eight productions in about 110 performances and some 30,000 spectators. Their organizer, the Landestheater Oberpfalz, is the second largest theater in the region. The schedule of the Burgfestspiele Leuchtenberg offers theater of various facets. In addition to the genres of the Bavarian folk theater, classical drama, children's and youth theater, as well as modern and experimental theater, the musical theater also belongs to the repertoire.

The large number of events takes place in the main playground, the inner courtyard of the Leuchtenberg castle ruin, as a free-air theater. The auditoriums are covered. In addition to the main venue in Leuchtenberg, the Friedrichsburger Schloss in Vohenstrauß serves as a further playground. There are chamber music productions. In addition, Stadthalle Vohenstrauß and the Regionalbibliothek in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate are used as further venues. Guest game productions all over Southern Germany.
