Shyamlal ji did various public service work of teaching, librarian and journalism when he came to the conclusion of Amar Shahid Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi and Literary Pratap Narayan Mishra. The councilor remained a fully dedicated activist of freedom struggle from 1916 to 1947. With the inspiration of Ganeshji, you have made Fatehpur your own workspace. During this, the Chief Operations of the 'Salt Movement' and 'Quit India Movement' and the responsibility of the post of Fatehpur Congress Committee for nearly 19 years was done by the councilor. He lived for 13 years in the District Council, Kanpur.

Because of participating in non-co-operation movement, Parshar ji was arrested on 21 August 1921 from the palace of Rani Ashodhara. The Central Jail was declared by the District Collector as a criminal revolutionary and sent to Agra. After this, in 1924, you were fined 500 rupees for a satirical creation on an anti-social person. In 1930, again arrested in connection with the Salt March Movement and kept in Kanpur jail. He was a continuous freedom fighter and remained absconding in 1932 and 1942. In 1944 you were arrested again and sent to jail. Thus, there were eighteen political arrests for eight years.

During his participation in the Independence Movement, he came in contact with top national leaders - Motilal Nehru, Mahadev Desai, Ramnaresh Tripathi and other leaders.

With the inspiration of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, on 31st March, 1924, Parshadji composed the famous 'Jhanda Song', one night, India. On 13th April 1924, under the leadership of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on the 'Jaliyanwala Bagh Divas', the first public song of flag flying was publicly played in Phulbagh, Kanpur.

Expressing his exclamations about the Councilor Nehru said, "Even though people will not know councilor, but the whole country is familiar with his song written on the national flag."

In addition to political activities, Parshadaji is also a leader in social work. He established and operated at Dosur Vyas Inter College (which is today known as Gauriddin Gangashankar Vidyalaya) and Orphanage, Girl Child School, Ganesh Sevashram, Ganesh Vidyapeeth, Dosar Vaishya Mahasabha, Vaishya Patra Samithi etc. Apart from this, you have made active contribution to women's education and dowry. He had told the first President of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad in the entire Ramkatha Rashtrapati Bhavan. He organized Ramlila in Narwal, Kanpur and Fatehpur.

Apart from 'Jhanda Song', another flag song was written by Shyamlal Gupta 'Parshad' ji. But its special discussion could not be made. The first line of that song is:

Independent India honored him and in the year 1952, he sang his famous "Jhanda Song" from Red Fort. He was greeted in 1972 at Red Fort. In 1973 he was embellished with 'Padma Shree'.

On the night of 10th August 1977, the social activist, Mahaprayan of the Rashtravakana became the cause of wearing glass on bare feet. He was 81 years old. After his death Kanpur and Narwal became his many memorials. The girl child's school established by her in Narwal was named 'Padmashree Shyamlal Gupta' councilor 'State Girls Inter College. The 'Padmashree' Shyamlal Gupta 'council' library was established in Phulbagh, Kanpur. His life-size statue was established on August 10, 1994 in Phulbagh. It was unveiled on September 9, 1995 on their 99th birthday.
