Norman Brannon


Norman "Doug" Brannon (born April 22, 1961 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American politician and a member of the House of Representatives of South Carolina.

Brannon graduated from the University of South Carolina as a Juris Doctor in 2000. From 1991 to 1993 he was a member of the Landrum City Council and mayor of the city from 1993 to 1997. In 2010, he was with 76.6% of the vote of his constituency (District 38 - Spartanburg County) to the House of Representatives of South Carolina. In the Republican primaries, he asserted himself against the owner, Joey Millwood. 2012 In 2014 Brannon was confirmed as a representative without counter-candidates.

In 2015, he received international attention as he announced a law initiative after the attack in Charleston to remove the flag of the Confederate States from government buildings and squares. Edit private source text
