Rahul Dev Burman
Rahul Dev Burman (27 June 1939 - 4 January 1994) was a famous musician of Hindi films. These were also called 'Pancham' or 'Panchmada'. These were the only children of famous musician Sachin Dev Burman and his wife Meera. Due to his unique musical talent, he is considered one of the best musicians in the world. It is believed that many musicians still imitate their style.
Panchamada also gave voice in 18 films composed by him. He also acted in Ghost Baungala (1965) and Pyaar Ka Season (1969).
Life story
Rahul was born in Kolkata. It is said that when they were crying in childhood, the sound of Pancham Sur used to be heard, due to which they were called the fifth. According to some people, when actor Ashok Kumar heard the fifth in his crying at a young age, he said that 'he cries in the fifth' and since then he has been called Pancham. He took his initial education from Baliganj Government High School, Kolkata. Later, Ustad Ali also learned Sarod from Akbar Khan.
His father, Sachin Deva Burman, who himself was a great musician of Hindi cinema, had started teaching R.D. Rahul Dev Burman received initial education from Baligunga Government High School, Kolkata. At the age of only nine years, he gave his first music to "Aye Marie Topi Palat Ki", which his father used in the film "Fontusch". At the young age, Pancham Da composed the tune of "Sir Joe Tera Chakraya ..." which was taken in Guru Dutt's film "Pyaasa".
The music created by him was quite different from his father S.D. Burman's style of music. R D Verman used to mix western music with Hindustani, which gave Indian music a different identity. But his father, Sachin Deva Burman, did not mix western music.
RD Burman started his career as a helper. Initially, he was a music assistant to his father. Apart from Hindi, he has also worked in Bangla, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi in his film career. Apart from this, he also scrapped the magic of his voice. Together with his father, he gave many successful songs, which were used in the films of the poor.
R. D Burman's first film as a composer was 'Chhoti Nawab' (1961), while the first successful film was the third floor (1966).
In the early seventies, RD Burman became a popular musician of the Indian film industry. He sang songs from big artists like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Mohammad Rafi and Kishore Kumar. In the 1970s, he gave his music in six films, the Kati Kite was very successful. R.D. Burman is quite successful as a musician. Later, he gave music in big films like Yaaron Ki Baraat, Hira Panna, Anamika etc. R. V. Verman's composer's final film '1942 A Love Story' This great musician died in 1994.
