Older Scandinavian Studies

Older Scandinavian Studies is a specialty of Scandinavian Studies, which deals with the Norse language and literature of Northern Europe in the Middle Ages. The tasks within older Scandinavian studies include, for example, the evaluation of rune inscriptions, the interpretation of nor- mal texts (such as the Icelandic sagas) and the discussion with the Old Norse. In addition to the Old Norse, the Gothic and the Norn are partly also treated. In a wider sense, Scandinavian linguistics is also part of older Scandinavian studies.
