Vélocipèdraisiavaporianna
Vélocipèdraisiavaporianna, 1818 (black and white copy)
With Vélocipèdraisiavaporianna also "steam-driven Velociped", a drawing of an unknown artist from Paris from the year 1818 is designated.
In 1817 Karl von Drais presented his impeller to the public. With this graphic utopia or caricature, a contemporary artist worked on the development of the newly released "Drasine" with the already known steam engine. The colored original drawing shows a two-wheeled Velociped with large boiler. Three heaters follow the driver to ignite the fire. This "fire fantasy" was 50 years ahead of the technical reality; the first steam wheel was built in 1869. The drawing is now in the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu. Single-level Edit source text
