Jaime Hurtado


Jaime Hurtado (1937-1999) is an Ecuadorian politician, leader of the MPD, the electoral branch of the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party of Ecuador (PCMLE). Hurtado was the first Afro-Ecuadorian deputy deputy to the National Congress, for the first time in 1979. He was also twice a candidate in the presidential election, in 1984 for the MPD (6.1%) and then in 1988 for the FIU, Front of the United Left (4.6%).

Deputy Hurtado and his deputy, Pablo Tapia, and his parliamentary assistant, Wellington Borja, died on 17 February 1999 in Quito, at the corner of Piedrahita and Diciembre streets, opposite the Legislative Palace. p> Notes &
