Excrex

The excrex is a donation that makes a spouse to another in consideration of their personal clothing, or increase in dowry that the husband assigns to the woman. The Talmud and the Bible mention this practice when they wanted to marry a minor, in which case they would have to pay their father.

The excrex, more typical of African culture, is also practiced in some regions of Asia; in Chinese culture on 'Ti Qing' (marriage proposal), both families come together to discuss the details of the exchange of goods and other things. A couple of days before the wedding arrives the 'Guo Da Li' (consummation of the rite). The groom and a matchmaker visit the family of the bride's father bringing them gifts.

This practice also exists in India, where - because of the problems it has produced - it wants to ban as dowry, although it has not been so successful.

In Spain, the excrex has been given in Aragon and, under the denomination of escribix or décima, also in Catalonia.
