Thorkell hamarskáld

Þorkell hamarskáld was an Icelandic scaler who according to Skáldatal served in the court of Magnus III of Norway. Among his best-known works is the poem dedicated to Magnus's victory at the Battle of Menai Strait (1081), when a joint force of Norwegians and Norwegians confronted the Norman invaders, possibly composed around the 1100s. Snorri Sturluson also mentions it in his Skáldskaparmál.

Among the compositions that have survived is Magnússrápa dedicated to the king, a lausavísur and a fragment of escáldico poem.
