Fernando Arias González (Madrid, February 27, 1952) is a Spanish diplomat, since February 12, 2012, Spain's ambassador to the United Nations in New York. Biography

Degree in Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, he has held different positions abroad since his accession to the Diplomatic Career in 1979. Of these, he is the second head of the Spanish embassies in Mexico, Argentina and the People's Republic China and held the post of ambassador in Mauritania (1998-200) and Bulgaria (2004-2009). Following his appointment in Beijing in February 2012, he was appointed ambassador to the United Nations at his New York headquarters, replacing Juan Pablo de Laiglesia.
