Cecilia Samuel
Cecilia Elizabeth Samuel (* 1920 as Cecilia Elizabeth Chan) is a former badminton player from Malaysia. She dominated this sport in Southeast Asia in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s and was called "Malayas Queen of Badminton."
Cecilia Chan won her first big international success at the Malaysian Open in 1939, when she won the women's singles. One year later Chan was again successful at the same event in the ladies' club. 1947 and 1950 to 1955, since 1940 married with A. S. Samuel, it was also not in the individual to be beaten. In 1954, she won the Malaysian Open in all three possible disciplines as in 1947.
In 1949, she won 11: 1 and 11: 2 in the national title matches of Selangor in the women's singles against Chia Pik Sim. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
