Defektive Verteilung


The distribution of a phoneme that does not occur in all contexts is referred to as a defective distribution in linguistics.

In many cases the occurrence of phonemes of a language within words is possible both at the beginning of the word (wortinitial), within a word (word) and at the word end (word end). If a phoneme does not occur in one of these contexts, one speaks of a defective distribution. Examples Edit source text
