Swale (Kent)


Swale is an administrative district with the status of a Borough in the county of Kent in England. It is named after the narrow Swale Canal that separates the Isle of Sheppey from the rest of the Kent. Most of the district is located on the island. The administrative seat is Sittingbourne; other significant places are Bobbing, Eastchurch, Faversham, Queenborough and Sheerness.

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was formed by the fusion of the Boroughs Sittingbourne and Queenborough-in-Sheppey, the Urban District Sittingbourne and Milton, and the Rural District Swale. Districts in Kent
