Pritanía


A Pritanian (in ancient Greek ἡ πρυτανεία) was a temporal division used in the Ancient Greece, in the polis of Athens from the end of the I century VI a. C., concretely from the isomómica revolution of Clístenes. This fraction of time corresponded to a tenth of the year. This division was mainly used in the organization of the Boulé (Athenian Council): each bouleta (counselor) was pritano for one month (the Athenian month lasted thirty-six days. p>
