Lily of the Valley

Lily of the Valley is a song by the British group Queen, written by the singer Freddie Mercury, it integrated the fifth track of the third LP of the band, Sheer Heart Attack, published in 1974.

This song is a ballad in which Mercury plays the piano, and is characteristic of melodies and choruses (all sung by Mercury) and for the short duration of it.

It is the last song of the vocalist that refers to the fantastic world of Rhye created in his childhood. Seven Seas of Rhye, a single from the previous album (Queen II) with the verse "messengers from Seven Seas has flown" and My Fairy King with the verse "to tell the King of Rhye lost his throne". In this way, it closes the circle of songs with this subject, that was exploited in the black side of the previous disc, as well as some songs of the album Queen of 1973.
