Bolanchao

Bolanchao (also: balanchao and gualanchao), traditional dessert in the form of meatball typical of the North of Argentina.

Bolanchao is a typical dish especially in the provinces of northwestern Argentina, is prepared by grinding in a mortar or a mill the sweet fruits of the mistol, grinding should not be so much that reduces them to pasta but to a degree that is formed a granular mass, such a paste does not require added water because the very moisture of the fruits provides the consistency. After made the dough is divided into balls (probably from this comes the name of the dessert). Then the balls are sprinkled with toasted flour, preferably toasted white carob flour or breaded with breadcrumbs and placed in the heat of an oven until they become golden.
