Angurvadel

Angurvadel, also known as Angervadil, is a sword of Norse mythology that belonged to the hero Fridthjof in the poem Friðþjófs saga hins frœkna, which he inherited from his father Viking, protagonist of Þorsteins saga Vikingssonar. According to legend, it was forged by dwarves, burns in time of war and shines with dim light in times of peace.

If the opponent fought with nobility, the sword could not harm him. When Fridthjof fought against Atli for the throne, Angurvadel broke Atli's sword, but when Fridthjof wielded it to deal the mortal blow, the sword prevented it. Both accepted a compromise of friendship and entered together in the palace of Angantyr. Bibliography
