The Prince Sweater

Lo spazzacamino principe (The Chimney Sweep Prince) is a commedia per musica in an act with music by Marcos Antonio Portugal and libretto by Giuseppe Maria Foppa. It premiered on January 4, 1794 at the Teatro San Moisé in Venice. It was one of the greatest successes of the Portuguese composer and the opera was the object of numerous replenishments both in Italy (important was the representation in 1800 in the Regio Teatro Ducale de Parma, where it was presented as the jocular drama Lo spazzacamino) as in all Europe, where it was represented during much of the nineteenth century, often with different titles (such as Der Schornsteinfeger Peter, oder Das Spiel des Ohngefährs and O basculho de chimney) and with variants and various additions.
