Teodrico de Bernicia

Teodric was king of Bernicia from 572 to 579.

Teodric was one of the sons of Ida of Bernice, founder of the kingdom of Bernice. Little is known about the life and kingdom of Teodric, although Urien, the king of Rheged, kept Teodric and his sons under attack for three days in a row on the island of Lindisfarne. According to medieval Welsh poetry stories (such as the poem Gweith Argoed Llwyfain (The Battle of Argoed Llwyfain or Battle of Leeming Street) from the Book of Taliesin), Teodric died in battle at the hands of Owain mab Urien, the son of Urien, after that Teodric claimed hostages and Owain refused to give them. The dates of the kingdom of Teodric are not precise, since the only sources of information vary widely in the order and duration of the kingdoms between the death of Ida and the beginning of the kingdom of Etelfrido in 592/593. >
