Kaufleutstube

The Kaufleutstube at Vordergasse 58, today headquarters of the Schaffhauser Nachrichten

The Kaufleutstube is the building at Vordergasse 58 in the Old Town of Schaffhausen. The guild for merchants purchased the property together with the Romanesque knight tower belonging to it. In 1780 the tower was destroyed. 1780-1784 the guild house was renovated and equipped with an early classic facade according to the plans of the master Hans Conrad Spengler. In 1876, the guild sold the building to the Casinogesellschaft, which sold it to the Meier + Cie AG in 1908. From 1908 to 1910 it was rebuilt internally and a book printing shop was established. Today, there is the editorial office of the Schaffhauser Nachrichten. Edit source text Weblinks Edit sourcetext
