King Chattrasal of Bundelkhand
Shahgarh is a tehsil of Sagar district. It has recently received tahsil status. Shahgarh has an important place in the history of Bundelkhand and it has been a ritual of many Bundela rulers. Located about 70 km away on the Sagar-Kanpur road in the northeast of Sagar district, this town is a witness to many historical events. The history of Shahgarh, situated on the southern bank of the River Launch, at the foot of the forested Uttung Chailmala is an important evidence of the bravery of the bravery.
History
In the 15th century this village was under the rule of the Gond rulers. Then this fort was about 750 villages. After the Gond rulers, this Chhatrasal came under the authority of Bundela, who posted a fortress here. Chhatrasal gave it the will of his son, Hirdayahah. Hirdayahah died in 1739. After the death of Hirade Shah, his junior son Prithviraj took it under his own authority with the help of Bajirao Peshwa.
It is said that when Ahmed Shah Abdali invaded India in 175 9, the Marathas fought against the invaders. For his help in this struggle an army of 5000 soldiers was sent from Shahgarh. In 1835 the British Sliema came here. He has written in detail about Shahgad and his rulers in his book "Rambles and Declarations". British rule
Bakhat Bali was the nephew of Arjun Singh. He had 150 horsemen and an army of about 800 infantry soldiers. He was involved in the Revolution of 1857. He helped Tatya Tope during the attack on Charkhari. Later, he was invited to join the Nana Sahib regime established in Gwalior.
Bakhat Bali was arrested by the British on his way to Gwalior in September 1858. He was sent to Lahore as a prisoner. There, he was kept in a place called Hakim Rai Ki Haveli in the Marri door. The British seized the state of Bakhtbali. The extent to which the state was so detailed can be estimated from that many parts of it are now included in the districts of Sagar, Damoh and Jhansi. The British had made Shahgarh the headquarters of the paragain of this name. There were about 500 hundred villages in about 500 sq km. There are still some historical remains in Shahgarh. Once upon a time there were cast iron mines in Shahgarh and the surrounding area. The iron extracted from these mines was used in the local method, though now it has no special significance. At one time, there was a nice soft stone whose cups and garlands were made. In ancient times, pottery made from Shahgarh was quite famous.
