Oteros del Rey

The Oteros del Rey is a traditional Spanish region located in the southeast of the province of León. The municipality with more inhabitants is that of Pajares de los Oteros and receives influence from nearby Valencia de Don Juan.

Its name refers to a flat terrain dotted with small hills or oteros that give the landscape a wavy appearance. The name "King" is given by its status as realengo in the Middle Ages. Today it is common to be named "Oteros."

Its traditional architecture is based on adobe and palomares are characteristic. In economic terms it is an agrarian zone in which cereal crops predominate. It is also within the production area of ​​the Protected Geographical Indication Pentella de Tierra de Campos and is an area of ​​great vineyard tradition forming part of the wine production area with Denomination of Origin Tierra de León.

At the moment it is integrated in the agrarian district of Esla-Campos.
