TuS Hindenburg 09
The TuS Hindenburg 09 was a German sports club in Hindenburg in Upper Silesia, which today belongs to Poland as Zabrze. Edit HistoryQual
In 1909 the company "Drahtseilwerke Adolf Deichsel A. G." was founded in Klein-Zabrze, a district of the rural community of Zabrze, which was established in 1905, the first of its kind in Silesia. In this club, which was called TV Deichsel Zabrze, the club was only begun, athletics and swimming, as well as the team games Faustball, Schlagball and Schleuderball, and the tambourine game for the women. When, on February 21, 1915, the rural community of Zabrze was renamed Hindenburg O.S. (Upper Silesia) in honor of the general field marshal Paul von Hindenburg, the association changed its name to "TV Deichsel Hindenburg" Coat of arms of the SpVgg Deichsel
In 1919, the TV Deichsel received a football department, which initially trained and played on a sports field on Solgerstraße. In 1923, in the course of the "clean divorce", the footballers, who were wearing yellow shirts with a large black "D" on the chest and black trousers, split off from the main club and set up as "Sportvereinigung (SpVgg) Deichsel 1919 Hindenburg" as can be seen from the name - the close connection to the wire rope works. Director-General Erwin Deichsel, who also temporarily took over the presidency of the factory, ordered the club to build a new sports field and two tennis courts on the site at Bitterstrasse, which was gradually expanded. In 1941, the "Deichsel-Sportplatz" was the venue for 8,000 spectators.
The footballers of the sports club Deichsel quickly advanced to the top of the Supreme Court, but without being able to reach the leading teams of Beuthen 09, forward racers Gleiwitz and the later local rivals Prussia Zaborze (after 1933 Prussia Hindenburg). Above all the good youth work made the Werkverein known and supplied the first team again and again with good offspring. In the period after 1930 the 1st and 2nd A-Youth-Team mostly represented the Hindenburger Fußballmeister of these classes, in the play time 1933/34 succeeded the Oberschlesische championship.
After 1933, the "Gleichschaltung" of the Nazis reunited the TV Deichsel and the SpVgg Deichsel under the new name "Turn- und Sportverein Hindenburg 1909". Whether the new name also lost the character as a factory club is unknown. After the introduction of the new Gauligen, the TuS Hindenburg spent a total of four seasons in top class, two in the Gauliga Schlesien (1934/35 and 1935/36) and during the war in the Gauliga Oberschlesien (1941/42 and 1942/43). It was best to cut off in 1934/35, when 5th place was achieved. With 1945, the club ceased to exist.
In addition to football, the Werkportverein offered a whole range of other sports. The athletes and handballers were especially successful. But also gymnastics, swimming and tennis could be operated in the shadow of the wire harness. Edit sourcetext
