Industrial areas in Spain. In red, developed industrial areas (provinces of Barcelona and Madrid). In orange, areas and axes in decline (Atlantic axis: Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia). In rose, areas and axes in expansion (axis of the Ebro: Rioja, Navarra, north of the province of Saragossa and Catalonia, and axis Mediterranean, Catalonia, Valencian Community and Region of Murcia). The rest are areas of induced and scarce industrialization. The distribution resembles that of the introduction of the "knowledge economy".
