Deputy Ligia Fallas in the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Costa Rica

Ligia Elena Fallas Rodríguez (San Ramón, Alajuela, September 21, 1959) is a Costa Rican educator, trade unionist and politician, deputy for the province of Alajuela in the Legislative Assembly by Frente Amplio.

Fallas graduated in Education Sciences from the University of Costa Rica. Since 1987, she has been working as a teacher and trade unionist in the Ministry of Public Education of Costa Rica. Women's Secretary in the Costa Rican Education Workers Union and Organization Secretary of the Rerum Novarum Workers' Center. At the partisan level, he is a member of the Alajuela Provincial Committee, Political Commission and National Assembly of the Frente Amplio. He was municipal councilor in the Municipal Council of San Ramón through the coalition Liga Ramonense and activist of the Forum of the West, a neighborhood group that successfully opposed to the concession of the company OAS for the highway to San Ramón.In Parliament it has supported environmental initiatives as well as the Law of Animal Welfare and of Civil Unions of same sex pairs
