Grachan Moncur III
Grachan Moncur III (June 3, 1937) is a trombonist and American jazz composer. He is also the son of the jazz musician, bassist Grachan Moncur II. Biography
Born in New York, his early work, while still studying, were playing with Art Blakey and Jackie McLean.
After graduating, he played with Ray Charles (1959-1962), Art Farmer and Benny Golson (1962) and Sonny Rollins. Also in the early 1960s he recorded with Jackie McLean, Lee Morgan, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.
Moncur joined the band of Archie Shepp and has also recorded with Marion Brown and Cassandra Wilson (1985).
