California English

California English is an English-language dialect spoken in the US state of California. The nation's most populous state, California is home to a very diverse population, reflected in the historical and continuing development of California English.

As is the case of English spoken in any state of the United States, not all features are used by all speakers in the state, and not all functions are limited to use only for the state. However, there are some linguistic traits that can be identified as either initially or predominantly of California, or both.
