Valley of Asúa

Palace of Larragoiti, in Zamudio. The valley of Asúa (in Euskera, Txorierri) is a valley that gives name to the unofficial subcomarca of the same name within Greater Bilbao (Vizcaya). The municipality of Txorierri includes the municipalities of Lujua, Sondica, Derio, Zamudio, Lezama and Larrabezúa and has a population of 20,635 inhabitants (INE 2014). Officially it is integrated in the region of the Right Bank along with 4 other municipalities (Erandio , Lejona, Guecho and Berango) although, by its short extension, generally introduced as subcomarca of Greater Bilbao.

Geographically, the Asúa Valley also covers a part of Erandio, a municipality in which the river Asúa flows into the Ria de Bilbao. In the valley are the airport and the Technological Park of Zamudio and is connected with Bilbao through the tunnels of Archanda. It is a residential and industrial area. Municipalities
