The Buddha of Suburbia is a 1993 miniseries produced by the BBC and directed by Roger Michell. It is based on Hanif Kureishi's novel novel. It featured Naveen Andrews in the lead role of Karim Amir. Other actors include David Bamber, Steven Mackintosh, Harish Patel, Brenda Blethyn, Roshan Seth, Jemma Redgrave and Philip Franks. The soundtrack was composed and performed by David Bowie.

Parts of the series were recorded in Naveen Andrews' old school, Emanuel School. The five hundred extras of the cast used were punks, skinheads, suedeheads, hippies and musicians obtained thanks to a casting made by Barbie Wilde.
