Nausithoos (son of Poseidon)

Nausithoos (ancient Greek Ναυσίθοος) is king of the Phaiaks in Greek mythology, a son of Poseidon and Periboia.

Nausithoos was the first king of the Phaiaks, who at that time still lived near the territory of the Cyclops, which in turn represented a permanent threat to the Phaiaks. Nausithoos therefore led them to Sheria, where they erected their happy kingdom. His son is King Alkino, who kindly accepted Odysseus and caused him to be taken to his home town of Ithaca.
